But it really rose to popularity with the construction of Enchey Monastery in 1840. With the rise of tourism in the place, rules had been laid down to put a cap on the prices for cabs and other commodities in order to safeguards tourists from getting fooled. Forest cover around the city of Gangtok consists of temperate, evergreen, coniferous and deciduous forests with trees species like elm, oak, birch and wet alpine. Other forests you can come across in the region is the Orchids forest which are rare otherwise in the rest of India. - Proceed to Yumthang valley, a scenic place situated at an altitude of 11,800 feet. Visit the Zero Point at Yumthang. Yumthang is a large valley surrounded by mountains where the tree line ends. In the evening free time for relaxation.

- Today will take a day trip to Tsomgo lake also called as Changu lake. The name Tsomgo means “source of Water”. This is one of the few and awesome high altitude lakes in India situated at an altitude of 12300 ft. Changing seasons bring new colors to the lake waters, from sapphire blue in spring time to a dark inky green as winter approaches. We further proceed to visit the temple of Baba Harbhajan Singh, a ‘Hero of Nathula’ who died in 1968 while on duty.

- Start your journey to one more hill station named Pelling to explore the true Sikkimese Heritage. Nestled in the hills of West Sikkim, it is also popular for its natural scenic beauty. En-route visit Chardham temple - the temple which has a replica of all Chardham Temples and the most incredible part is 87 ft statue of Lord Shiva at Namchi, and proceed to visit Buddha Park – a 130-foot high statue of the Buddha. Later in the evening arrive at Pelling.

- Visit Rimbi falls, Kanchanjunga Waterfall, Khecheopalri Lake and Penyang Monastery. Enjoy local folk dance in the evening (Subject to Operation).

- Proceed to Darjeeling. En-route enjoy never ending thrills of White Water Rafting (subject to operation). Arrive in Darjeeling in the evening.

Later visit the Peace Pagoda and Japanese Temple. Free time for shopping in the evening.
